My name is Julianne Costa, and I have been touring with el-live Productions for about 2 years. Leaving home, traveling the world, and doing it with a bunch of strangers was frightening and exhilarating. I remember doing a ton of research about the company and trying to present a strong presentation to my family that I was going to be safe.
Traveling the world and doing it through music was a lifelong dream of mine, and el-live was my ticket to make that come true. While doing some soul searching I remembered this old Irish saying, “Throw your hat over the wall” meaning if you really want something make the commitment and go. I packed my bags, left sunny southern California, and joined el-live Productions.
Starting off in Singapore
My first contract was in lovely safe Singapore with Shades band. I was so surprised to see a BMW pick me up from the airport and bring me to the Grand Hyatt. I felt like a rock star riding in style! My band leader Mikey met me in the lobby and gave me a tour of the beautiful hotel and surrounding area. Every doubt I had about the company vanished along with my nervousness as Mikey and I sat at Starbucks across the street from the hotel getting to know one another. A woman traveling alone across the world can be totally nerve-racking and scary. I can say with 100 % certainty that the moment you meet your band you will no longer feel alone. Our el-live bands are like family.
Take a leap of faith
Since joining el-live I have traveled all over southeast Asia and the middle east. I have made friends all over the world. In fact, on my last vacation the band I am in (Wave) and another el-live band (Oxygen) all went to Thailand together to visit another el-live band (Metro)! We really are family. “Throw your hat over the wall” because your dreams are on the other side.
