From the vibrant streets of Newport News, Virginia, Jarius has emerged as a powerhouse bassist influenced by the grooves of Earth, Wind & Fire and the vibrant performances of Morris Day. With a brother who ignited his musical passion and a rich family record collection as his playground, Jay developed a style that’s both unique and deeply rooted in rhythm and blues tradition.

His dynamic stage presence has not only captivated audiences but also opened doors to perform and record with renowned artists like Musiq Soulchild and James Fortune. As a band leader and a mainstay in diverse musical groups, Jay has traveled the world, leaving his mark with each performance and inspiring audiences with his dedication and infectious energy.

Inspired by his brother Lamont Huffaker, Jarius’s mantra, “See it through,” encapsulates his commitment to perseverance and completion. Whether navigating the complexities of a new musical arrangement or leading a band through a challenging tour, Jarius applies this philosophy to ensure every endeavor is pursued with determination and concluded with excellence. It’s a testament to his resilience and a guiding principle that turns potential challenges into triumphs in his musical career.

My el-live journey kicked off in 2015 at the Grand Hyatt with the Steel Band, marking the beginning of a series of global performances that would define my career. From Shenyang to Doha, I have graced stages across Asia, each gig weaving a new thread in the tapestry of my musical life. The rhythms of Singapore, the energy of Thailand, and the cultural mosaic of Malaysia have each played a role in shaping my approach to music and performance.

The highlight of my el-live experience was my debut in Shenyang. That first gig was more than just a performance; it was the moment I truly felt the impact of sharing my music across cultures. Each city brought its unique flair, but the constant was the universal language of music that connected us all.
